About
Inga Domenick is a costume designer with a passion for fashion history and storytelling. Born and raised in Chicago, IL, Inga has been involved in theatre from a young age. Apart from specializing in Costume Design, she has earned a minor in arts entrepreneurship and currently serves as the costume shop supervisor. Inga has worked on various productions at UNCSA, most recently she designed the 2024 fall musical, The Wild Party, and is working on designing Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard. In addition, she has worked on many films, including a feature film, as a designer and dresser.
Inga feels that the most important part of designing costumes is to match the character's energy and create a comfortable environment for actors. She strives to make work that enhances a performer's energy on stage, a piece that doesn’t interfere with movement but makes it grow and adds to the magic of a performance. By using fashion history as a guide, Inga focuses on small details that can change the connotation of a character. She doesn’t aim for perfection, as perfection is not human, and her goal in costume design is to create the feeling of real people.
Inga finds it important to have hobbies outside of work, and she rides and shows horses in the Winston-Salem area. This has taught her that patience gives her a chance to connect with many different people, which helps inform her craft.
